Chrissy in New Zealand

Auckland 'City of Sails'
Auckland is the biggest city of New Zealand. I am living, studying and spending the most of my time in Auckland.
I visited various places in this big city.

First of all, the Sky Tower is a must do attraction. This is the highest tower in the Southern hemisphere. I saw an amazing panoramic view of Auckland with the different buildings, the streets, the harbours, the boats and the sea.
The moment I enjoyed the tower the most was at night. All the lights were on. There is a very good restaurant inside, Orbit 360 Dining, where I was eating a very delicious dinner while admiring the illuminated city.
The first beach where I enjoyed the sun and wet my feet in the water was Mission Bay beach. There are many buses to go and return from Auckland Central. From the beach, I could see Rangitoto, a beautiful volcanic island.

I cannot resist to go shopping in Queen Street, the main street of the city centre. There are many clothing shops with big sales.

Auckland Domain is one of the biggest and oldest park close to the city centre. I visited the War Memorial Museum and the Wintergardens there. The Lantern Festival takes place in the park every year for the Chinese New Year.

When I want to do some little exercices, I walk up to the summit of Mount Eden which is the highest natural elevation of Auckland. After reaching the summit of Mount Eden, I can have a good view of the surrounding area but I can also admire the crater inside.
I went to the seaside village Devonport by ferry. There is a beautiful view of Auckland from the Mount Victoria.

After a week, I noticed Auckland City is quite small. I cannot really discover New Zealand without going far away from the city. In my opinion, things are always the same in any big cities around the world. Travelling means going to the natural and wild side of a country…
